Living wills and regular wills

Is it possible for individuals to write these items themselves? What needs to be done to do so? Is there any particular form needed to make up a will? Once someone has written a will does it need to be looked over by a lawyer to verify it is correct?

Will and Last Testament in NC

In the state of NC, do I have to file a copy of my will with a lawyer in order for it to be valid in court or is it just as valid if I were to keep a copy and give copies to family members? If I do not file it with a lawyer is it possible that a family member could dispute what is in the will?

I am recently divorced. My x is dying and would like for me to take care of our son and grandson.

She stated that she would give me the house if I did. The mortage has a survivorship clause in it. What would I have to do to keep the house. We have two sons and three grandsons. Would I need to get something on paper to ensure that her wishes and my interest are legal
