I got divorced in 1983 after 11 years of marriage. Financially I wasn't able to move out. My ex never recognized the divorce. He insisted that we continue to file our taxes as a married couple. I didn't feel good about it, but was dependent upon him. Well, we moved in 2008 to Georgia. As usual he coerced me into filing a joint tax return. I don't want to do it anymore. How much trouble am I in, and how do I fix it?

If you continued to file a joint return you committed felony tax fraud unless you continued to live as husband and wife after the divorce in a state that allowed common law marriage. You either owe back taxes or need another divorce and need a lawyer immediately.
