Felony drop to a misdemeanor

How can I get my felony to drop to a misdemeanor so I can join outdoor activities, such as hunting, with my sons? I plead no contest in 1998, to a domestic violence case with my ex-wife in California. Since then I have no priors and I 've completed my anger management classes and I have proofs of the certificates. Any suggestions? Please help! Thank you!
