1 st deg class b felony / indictment what is it and why has it changed to an indictment

I went to my ex wifes home and got into a fight w her new guy i hit him he had a gun and pistol wipped me w it and of course put it up when the cops came so i get charged w burglary he said i pushed through the door which i didnt so i get 2 citations one for hitting him and one for the door supposedly bumping her i went to court on those city charges they gave me probation 1yr anger managment 200 restutution for the door a couple other thing then the state picked up burgalry 1st deg means to like go somewhere with the intent to commit a crime so then goto court on that then they say im being indicted wtf does this mean

Indictment just means they sent it to a grand jury to find that a crime probably was committed and it was more likely than not that you committed it. Its how the court finds probable cause to keep the case going. Some jurisdictions hold preliminary hearings but most use a grand jury. The outcome its typic.ally the same
