Cullen is a born and raised Texan.  After moving around quite a bit, Cullen ended up graduating from high school in southeast Texas just north of Beaumont.  While in high school, Cullen was captain of the varsity tennis team and excelled in both sports and academia. 

Cullen attended both the U.S. Air Force Academy and Lamar University before receiving his Bachelor's of Business Administration degree from Texas State University-San Marcos.  While attending Texas State, Cullen was on the Dean's List and an active member of the Tennis Club.

A few years after graduating from Texas State, Cullen earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence at Texas Southern University's Thurgood Marshall School of Law and was admitted to practice law in November 2010.

Cullen lives near downtown Houston with his wife.  Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and dog Seamus.  Cullen loves playing tennis and shooting IDPA.  Cullen is a member of Holland Lodge #1 A.F. & A.M. and volunteers at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo.  Cullen is a volunteer mediator at both the Harris County and Montgomery County Dispute Resolution Centers.

In March 2011, Cullen was selected to be a Judge Advocate in the United States Army Reserve JAG Corps.  He is looking forward to beginning his training and getting his commission.
